Olmsted Scavenger Hunt with a Company of Girls
The Olmsted scavenger hunt will be facilitated by the local non-profit A Company of Girls (ACOG), an arts-based afterschool and outreach resiliency and empowerment program, with a theme relative to the national celebration of Frederick Law Olmsted’s 200th birthday. Nearly two centuries ago, Olmsted tackled social and environmental challenges analogous to those we face today: racism, disease, pollution, inequality, and deep social divisions. These were profound concerns in the late 19th century just as they are profound concerns in our time. Olmsted understood the powerful interface between thoughtful design and social justice. And his prescriptions — democratic spaces, community, healthful connections to nature & sustainable landscapes — are vital to address racism, inequality and climate change today. ACOG will be working with this theme to bring to life this child-focused scavenger hunt. NOTE: this event will be free thanks to the generosity of the Onion Foundation.
We highly recommend that a parent or guardian attend.
Additional event information will be emailed to all ticket holders.
